Rocky Golf Teams Round out Fall Season With Wins at Yegen
The Rocky Mountain College men's and women's golf teams hosted the Frontier Conference's fourth and final fall tournament this past Sunday at Peter Yegen Golf Club. The tournament was a tremendous success for the Battlin' Bears on both the team and individual side.
The women's team completed a clean sweep of the fall tournaments as they found themselves on top of the team leader board once again placing first amongst the three teams participating. Rocky's Amanda Conner became the third member of her team to take home the individual title as her 3-over-par 74 was good for the win. Tying for second place was sophomore Claire Wright who finished in the top two of every tournament this fall. Sophomore Kaelyn Volk finished in fifth while Morgan Sword tied for tenth. The Battlin' Bears secured the Frontier Conference regular season championship as they've dominated the four tournaments played this fall.
The men's program had two teams competing in the tournament, and both teams played solid rounds. It was Rocky's second team who took first place as they were paced by Nolan Burzminski two-under-par round of 69 strokes. This was Burzminski's best round of the season. Just one stroke behind him were Rocky's Leon Doedtmann and Haydn Driver who shot their best rounds of the season with one-under-par scores of 70. Rocky's 'A' team finished in third place led by sophomore standout Daniel Sigurjonsson's Even-Par score of 71. The Iceland native has been one of the most consistent individual players in the Frontier Conference, and had the lowest average score of anyone who competed in all four tournaments this fall.
The Battlin' Bears won't hit the links again until the spring, but both teams seem poised to compete for the Frontier Conference Championship. The Frontier Conference Golf Championships are scheduled to take place on April 19th 2021 at Banbury Golf Club in Eagle, Idaho.
