Women’s Golf Wins Montana Tech Invitational, Men’s Team Finishes Second
BUTTE, Mont. – In Head Coach Nathan Bailey's debut, The Rocky Mountain College Men's and Women's Golf teams began their seasons yesterday with stellar performances in the Montana Tech Invitational.
The Women's team won the invitational in dominant fashion with four of the top five finishers coming from Rocky. As a team, the Battlin' Bears finished 35 strokes ahead of the next best team. Junior Kaelyn Volk placed first overall, shooting a 76 in the 18 hole tournament. Sophomore Standout Claire Wright finished in second with a score of 78. Newcomer Amanda Conner tied for third while Kaitlyn Fleming finished fifth.
The Men's team also performed well finishing tied for second among the five teams participating. Sophomore Daniel Sigurjonsson led the way for Rocky as he landed in seventh place with a score of 73. A trio of Rocky golfers finished just 1 stroke behind him as Nolan Burzminski, Schaefer Paladichuk, and Mitchell Thiessen all tied for eighth by shooting scores of 74.
Both teams will next compete in Helena on September 22nd as they'll tee off in the Carroll College Invitational.
