Rocky Men and Women Sweep Beartooth Invite; Zuleta Wins Second Individual Title This Season

LAUREL, Mont. Sept. 27, 2022- Rocky Mountain College Men's and Women's Golf both end the Beartooth in first place as a team, with Valentina Zuleta taking an individual victory on the women's side.

The Rocky Men ended the invite with a 589 stroke total, including a 288 total on day two, which gave them a 25 stroke victory. The Battlin' Bears were led by Aidan McDonagh, who ended the day with a 143 stroke total, shooting 72 on the second day to give him second place overall. Rocky held second through sixth place, as Haydn Driver shot 71 on the second day to give him a 147 total to finish third, William Dexheimer and Leon Doedtmann shot 148 to tie for fourth, and Daniel Sigujonsson shot 152 to finish tied for sixth.

The Rocky women ended the invite with a 628 stroke total, giving them a ten stroke victory over Wayland Baptist. The Battlin' Bears are led by Valentina Zuleta, who had a stroke total of 148 to give her another individual victory this season. Claire Wright finished in third with a 156 stroke total. Kadence Fischer finished in sixth with a 161 total, while teammates Breana Jensen and Grace Metcalf tied for seventh with a 168 stroke total.

"I am proud of the way our men played today, shooting a solid round at even par on a tough playing course, and our second team breaking 300 is a big accomplishment." Coach Nathan Bailey said. "Our girls didn't have their best showing but there were some positives and we were able to grind it out for the win. We are excited about closing out the conference next week and are looking forward to having a great week on our home course."

Rocky will host the Battlin' Bears Invite next Monday, October 3rd and Tuesday, October 4th at Yegen Golf Course.
