Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Rocky Ties Record with Ninth Straight Win

BILLINGS, Mont. – The No. 7 Rocky Mountain College men's soccer team dominated the second half in a 3-0 win over Warner Pacific on Friday afternoon at Wendy's Field.

After not being able to generate many chances playing against the wind in the first half, Rocky (13-1, 9-1 CCC) used the win to score three times in the second half to tie the school record with its ninth consecutive victory.

Chasen Lashure scored the opening two goals of the game for the Battlin' Bears. His first came in the 48th minute when he chipped a shot over the keeper and into the side netting for a 1-0 lead. Gregor Watson setup the goal with a ball played over the top of the defense to a streaking Lashure.

Lashure would again score to the right of the Warner Pacific (2-8, 2-8 CCC) keeper in the 78th minute. This time he was played a ball by Jonah Gronmayer to create the low shot for a 2-0 advantage.

Pablo Ferreira added Rocky's third goal in the 82nd minute after his curling shot found the back of the net. Mason Luse played that ball to Ferreira for an assist on the play.

The wind played a factor in the game as Rocky was outshot 8-4 in the first half before ending the day with a 14-10 advantage behind 10 second half shots with the wind. Rocky put nine of their shots on goal and took eight corner kicks.

Lashure took a team-high five shots and was joined by Ferreira for the lead with three shots on goal.

Cole Catlin made five saves to record his fifth shutout of the season in goal for the Battlin' Bears.

With the win, Rocky move to the top of the Cascade Collegiate Conference standings with 27 points and they secure a spot in next month's CCC Tournament. The Battlin' Bears hold a two-point lead over Corban and Southern Oregon for the lead with three games to play.

Rocky is home for the final time of the regular season on Sunday when they host Eastern Oregon at Wendy's Field. First touch is slated for noon.
