Rocky to Host Eastern Oregon in Saturday’s Home Finale

BILLINGS, Mont. – The Rocky Mountain College football team closes their home slate of games on Saturday when they host Eastern Oregon at Herb Klindt Field. The Senior Day game is also Military Appreciation Day with kickoff scheduled for noon. The team will honor its senior class with a presentation following pregame warmups.
 
Saturday's game will be available live on the Rocky You Tube channel (youtube.com/battlinbears) and on ESPN Billings 910 AM with Kyle Riley (play-by-play), Jesse Brockschmidt (analyst) and Bob Rittierodt (sidelines) calling the action. The Battlin' Bears enter the home finale at 5-4 overall and 5-3 in Frontier Conference games. They sit alone in third-place in the conference. Rocky has alternated wins and losses in seven straight outings. They are 2-2 at home this season.
 
Rocky is second in the Frontier by rushing for 217.4 yards per game with 1,957 total rushing yards. They sit 15th in the NAIA in to total rushing yards and 16th with their per game average. The team is throwing for 189.0 yards per game to rank fourth in the Frontier at 406.4 total yards per game. They average 29.7 points per game to place third in the conference.
 
Defensively, Rocky is allowing 357.4 total yards per game to rank second in the Frontier and 26th nationally. They lead the conference in holding opponents to 221.9 passing yards per game and sit second in giving up 21.4 points per game.
 
The Battlin' Bears have 23 gained turnovers this season which is fifth-most in the NAIA. They are second in the country with 16 interceptions. Rocky is plus-8 in turnover margin to rank 13th in the nation. They average 20.4 first downs per game and convert on 37.0 percent of third-downs. Rocky's kickoff return team is 13th in the NAIA by averaging 23.4 yards per kickoff return.
 
Rocky has faced Eastern Oregon 20 times since 2004 with the Mountaineers leading the series 13-7. EOU is 7-3 when the game is played in Billings during that time. The teams have alternated wins over the last five meetings, with EOU winning 19-16 last season in La Grande.
