Rocky Continues Season with Two Games

BILLINGS, Mont. – The Rocky Mountain College women's basketball team will continue its season with a pair of games over the next four days. Rocky will play at Salish Kootenai on Saturday at 2 p.m. in Pablo. The Battlin' Bears will then return home to face crosstown rival MSU Billings on Monday at 7 p.m. in the Fortin Center.
 
There will be no live coverage of the game on Saturday. Monday's game will be available live on the Rocky You Tube page at YouTube.com/battlinbears. Live audio can be found at MTSportsCast.com. Rocky enters the week at 1-0 on the season after a 91-34 home win over Salish Kootenai last Saturday. All 11 Rocky players that played in the game scored and had a rebound.
 
The Battlin' Bears shot 46.2 percent from the field and made 11 threes on 34.4 percent accuracy. They hit 8 of 14 at the foul line while grabbing 57 rebounds. Rocky had 27 assists on 36 made baskets and only 14 turnovers.
 
Defensively, Rocky limited Salish Kootenai to 22.8 percent from the floor and 2 of 19 from beyond the arc. They forced 25 Bison turnovers which resulted in 30 points. Rocky had 15 steals and seven blocked shots.
 
Hailee Farstveet scored 17 points to tie for the team lead. The preseason all-conference selection made 6 of her 13 shots, including three treys. She led the way with seven assists while adding two assists and two steals.
 
Brooke Jones also scored 17 points in the opener. Jones shot 8 of 11 from the floor and added six rebounds and three steals.
 
Alexi Smith had 16 points against Salish Kootenai behind 6 of 8 from the field and connecting on 4 of her 6 shots from beyond the arc.
 
Mikayla Jones struggled shooting in her return from injury, but had a team-high 12 rebounds. She snagged six of those boards at the offensive end. Her four steals led the team and she had five assists and one blocked shot.
 
Saturday's game will be the second meeting this season between Rocky and Salish Kootenai after the Battlin' Bears win at home this past Saturday. That is the only other meeting between the two teams.
 
Since the 2003-04 season, Rocky has gone 3-12 in countable games against MSU Billings. They have lost four straight to the Yellowjackets, including two straight at home.
