BILLINGS, Mont. – The No. 23 Rocky Mountain College volleyball team moved back into a second-place tie in the Frontier Conference with a 3-0 sweep over Montana Western on Friday night in the Fortin Center.
Rocky (20-10, 8-3) entered the night one-half game behind Carroll for second in the conference, but pulled even with their next opponent with the 25-15, 25-10, 25-10 victory.
The Battlin' Bears totaled 42 kills and only eight hitting errors to finish the night a .246 hitting. They allowed Montana Western (9-16, 1-11) only 22 kills and .008 hitting. Rocky had 79 digs and seven blocks.
Hailey Copinga led the way for Rocky with 14 kills and .438 hitting. The junior added 11 digs, four blocks and one service ace.
Sydney Matheny added nine kills and .429 hitting with three blocks.
Olivia L'Ami had six kills.
Rocky will host Carroll on Saturday night with a chance to sweep the season series. They will honor their four seniors in a ceremony prior to the 7 p.m. match.
