SURPRISE, Ariz. – The Rocky Mountain College women's basketball team opened a three-game weekend in Arizona with a 63-50 win over Ottawa University on Thursday evening at Willow Canyon High School.
Rocky (7-1) jumped out to an early advantage and rode 43.1 percent shooting for the road victory. They assisted on 18 of their 25 baskets with just nine turnovers. The Battlin' Bears held Ottawa (1-9) to 33.3 percent from the field and forced 15 turnovers.
Brooke Jones led Rocky with 19 points in 9 of 11 shooting. She also collected six rebounds to lead the team while adding two assists and one steal.
Alecia Chamberlin added 10 points and five rebounds with
Mikayla Jones going for eight points, three assists and three steals.
Rocky finished with a 37-34 rebounding advantage. The team totaled 11 steals and three blocked shots.
Alexis Smith led Ottawa with 12 points.
The Battlin' Bears will now play two games at the Arizona Christian tournament starting on Friday at 5 p.m. against Benedictine Mesa.
