BILLINGS, Mont. – The Rocky Mountain College volleyball team returned to Frontier Conference play with a sweep of University or Providence on Saturday night at the Fortin Center.
Rocky Mountain (10-5, 2-0 Frontier) got 12 kills from
Daniella Russell in the 25-15, 25-18, 25-12 win. The sophomore hit .300 and added six digs and three blocks.
Rocky finished the night with a 47-27 advantage in kills and the Battlin' Bears hit .266 as a team. They held Providence (13-6, 0-2 Frontier) to .063 hitting and forced the Argos into 19 hitting errors. Rocky got eight blocks and tallied 70 digs.
Sydney Matheny added nine kills and hit .500 with three blocks. The Battlin' Bears also got nine kills from both
Hailey Copinga and
Olivia L'Ami. The team totaled at least 15 kills in each set and closed the sweep with 16 kills and .308 hitting in the third.
Three Rocky players were in double figures in digs with
Holland Fergurson leading the way with 20. Copinga added 18 and
Ruby Kallenbach had 12.
Tess Hellerud posted five blocks to lead the team.
Sydney Andersen had seven kills and hit .250 to lead the Argos.
The Battlin' Bears will play their next four matches on the road, including a trip to Lewis-Clark State College on Friday at 7 p.m. in Lewiston, Idaho.
