HELENA, Mont. – The Rocky Mountain College volleyball team completed its weekend road trip with a 3-0 sweep at Carroll College in Frontier Conference action on Saturday afternoon.
Rocky Mountain (14-6, 5-1) has now won seven of its previous nine matches and the secured a sweep in Helena for the first time since 2014 with the 25-18, 25-23, 25-16 victory.
It was another balanced attack with the Battlin' Bears offense as they racked up 46 kills and had five players with at least five kills. Rocky hit .228 as a team and added six service aces. They had at least 13 kills in every set, including 18 and .326 hitting in the third.
The Battlin' Bears limited Carroll (9-11, 2-3) to only 36 kills and .118 hitting. Rocky recorded 80 digs and seven blocks. They held the home team to 10 kills or less in two of the three sets.
Sydney Matheny led Rocky with 10 kills and .421 hitting. This is her fourth double-digit effort of the season and just the second since August 26. Matheny also gave Rocky two blocks in the win.
Hailey Copinga added nine kills, 17 digs, two service aces and .389 hitting for the Battlin' Bears.
Tess Hellerud had eight kills and
Daniella Russell finished with six.
Holland Fergurson led five Rocky players in double figures in digs with 20. It's the eight time this season the senior has accounted for at least 20 digs in a match.
Krista Judisch had 15 digs and
Ruby Kallenbach posted 10.
Hellerud finished with a match-high five blocks.
Natalie Hilderman extended her double-double streak to five straight matches with 38 assists and 12 digs.
Rayna Pilgeram led Carroll with 11 kills and Casey Berry had 21 digs.
Rocky is now set to return home for a match against Lewis-Clark State on October 7. The Battlin' Bears only match in the Fortin Center during a 40-day stretch will begin at 7 p.m.
