Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Rocky unable to surpass Fighting Saints

BILLINGS, Mont. – The Battlin' Bears (4-5-1, 0-4-1 CCC) were unable to defeat Carroll College (6-5-1) as they lost by a single point Friday night at Herb Klindt Field.

The Battlin' Bears were able to find a positive amidst the loss as they snapped a scoreless streak that extended four games to the beginning of conference play three weeks ago. It took Rocky's Mhari Smith only 9 seconds into the game to find the back of the net and Rocky went up by one immediately. It counts as the fastest goal in the history of Rocky Mountain College soccer.

Unfortunately, that is where they stayed for the rest of the night. Unable to score again, the Battlin' Bears watched their quick lead slip away.

Carroll's McKenna Payne nailed a ball into the left corner from nearly mid-field in the 31st minute.

Lizzie Sheldon scored the game winning goal in the 57th minute.

Rocky was unable to take advantage of opportunities on the defensive side of the ball. The Battlin' Bears held a 22-10 shot advantage over the Fighting Saints.

Rocky's goalkeeper Samantha Kelley allowed two goals and secured four saves. Carroll College's goalkeeper Devan Murfitt would secure 12 saves with only one goal allowed.

Rocky will host University of Providence on Sunday. That action will start at 3:30 p.m.
