SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – The No. 3 seeded Battlin' Bears defeated the No. 2 seeded Mountaineers 1-0 in the Cascade Collegiate Conference Tournament Semi-Finals.
The Cascade Conference Men's Soccer Championship will be between Rocky and No. 1 seeded Southern Oregon. Southern Oregon has already secured an automatic bid to the national championship due to finishing first in the conference during the regular season. As a result, Rocky Mountain College has secured the second automatic bid to the 2018 NAIA Men's Soccer National Championship, regardless of the score in the final.
Marco Kummerle scored the only goal of the game off an assist from
Pablo Ferreira in the 46th minute.
Rocky and Eastern Oregon were fairly evenly paced offensively as Rocky held only a 14-12 shot advantage.
Rocky's goalkeeper,
Kristofer Wennin, allowed no goals while pulling in seven saves.
The Cascade Collegiate Tournament Final will take place Saturday at 3 p.m.
