BILLINGS, Mont. – The Rocky Mountain College women's soccer team earned a 4-1 victory over Briar Cliff.
The Battlin' Bears and Chargers kept the match close throughout the first period, but Rocky was able to pull away in the second half. The Chargers gave way underneath Rocky's constant attack on the goal.
The first goal of the night belonged to Rocky's
Shasta Grant, who scored in the 29th minute with an assist from
Rita Marshall.
Rocky would begin a streak of goals in the second half.
Emily Browne scored a goal of her own in the 75th minute.
Lauryn Gamache quickly followed two minutes later with a goal off an assist from
Rita Marshall.
Mhari Smith found the back of the net in the 79th minute with an assist from
Hannah Borgel.
Briar Cliff would score their only goal of the night in the 89th minute.
Rocky's
Maia Wetzel would finish the night with one goal allowed and three saves.
The Battlin' Bears had 19 shots on goal compared to the Chargers who managed only four shots on goal.
Rocky had a 6-1 advantage on corner kicks.
The Battlin' Bears will play again Monday at Wendy's Field in Billings, Mont. against Mid-American Christian. Play will begin at 11 a.m.
