SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – The Rocky Mountain College women's soccer team fell short against Westmont in a close 3-2 loss.
The Battlin' Bears (3-1) were unable to pull ahead of Warriors (5-0-1) and fell short despite drawing it close in the second half.
Westmont pulled ahead by two before Rocky could mount a resistance.
Rocky would gain some footing in the 61st minute as
Mhari Smith would knock in a 20 yard shot that bounced off of a Westmont defender.
Westmont responded quickly with another goal of their own.
Lauryn Gamache found the back of the net off an assist from
Alyssa Schneider in the 70th minute, but it would be too little too late.
The Warriors handed the Battlin' Bears their first loss of the season.

Maia Wetzel would end the day with three goals allowed and four saves.
Rocky had a 16 to 10 shot advantage over Westmont.
The Battlin' Bears will stay on the West Coast and play Marymount tomorrow in Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif. The match will begin at 12 p.m.
