GREAT FALLS, Mont., October 25, 2019 – Powered by Mhari Smith's two goals, Rocky Mountain College defeated the University of Providence Argos with a 3-0 shutout win Friday afternoon.

Scoring the match's initial goal, Smith put the Battlin' Bears (9-3-1, 6-2-1 CCC) on the board in the eighth minute of play. The senior booted a ball over the outstretched hands of Providence's (5-10, 4-7 CCC) Jenna Evertz and into the back of the net from more than 20 yards out.

Outshooting the Argos 7-3 in the first period, the Battlin' Bears maintained a single goal lead through the entirety of the half.

In the 52nd minute, Gamache scored her 10th goal of the season. Smith scored the match's final goal in the 60th minute off an assist from Alyssa Schneider. 

The victory counts as the second over the Argos for the Battlin' Bears this season. Rocky defeated Providence 4-0 in a non conference match on September 14.

Pulling in four saves, Rocky's Maia Wetzel recorded her eighth shutout of the season. Evertz had seven saves and three goals allowed for the Argos.

The Battlin' Bears finished with a 16-8 shot advantage. Providence led 3-1 in corner kicks.

Rocky Mountain College will next play Carroll College in Helena, Montana on Sunday.
