SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – Just a year removed from winning the Cascade Collegiate Conference's men's soccer tournament title, the Rocky Mountain College Battlin' Bears were defeated 2-0 by The Evergreen State College Geoducks in the opening round of the CCC Championship.

Both teams were unable to find the back of the net in the first period, but the Geoducks quickly scored coming out of the half. Wylie Suda knocked in the match's first goal off of Maxton Hauser in the 50th minute. 

Any thought of a Battlin' Bear comeback was put to rest in the 87th minute when Gavin McLeroy extended the Geoducks lead to 2.

Outshooting the Geoducks 22-10, the Battlin' Bears had plenty of offensive opportunities, but were unable to convert any of their shots into points. Evergreen's goalkeeper, Tristan Glaser, recorded three saves. Rocky's Kristofer Wennin had two saves and two goals allowed.

The Battlin' Bears also held an 8-0 advantage in corner kicks.

The Geoducks will advance to the semifinals of the 2019 CCC Men's Soccer Tournament where they will play the No. 1 seed, No. 18 ranked Corban University, at 4 p.m. (PT).
