BILLINGS, Mont. – No. 18 ranked Rocky Mountain College finished in second place behind Lewis-Clark State at the 2019 Frontier Conference Men's Cross Country Championship. The Battlin' Bears finished with 46 points and three of the top ten runners in the race.
Once again this season,
Jackson Duffey led the Battlin' Bears as he finished in fourth on a time of 25:49.68.
"Jackson is a fighter," said Rocky's assistant cross country coach,
Mackenzie O'Dore. "We're proud of how the entire team handled the race."
Finishing right behind Duffey was teammate
Isaac Petsch who placed in fifth on a time of 26:20.33. Freshman
Jackson Wilson finished in seventh with a time of 26:38.54.
All three runners received all-conference honors as a result of their performances.
"It was very windy during the men's race," said Rocky's head cross country coach,
Mike McLean. "As a result, I think our men were having to run for place and not for time."
Elijah Boyd finished in 13th on a time of 27:06.32.
George Beddow completed the Battlin' Bears scoring runners efforts with a 17th place finish on a time of 27:32.19.
Joseph Vanden Bos took 20th on a time of 28:04.70 for the Battlin' Bears while
Keegan Council finished in 22nd on a time of 28:14.34.
Lewis-Clark won the team title with just 24 points as a team. The Warriors' Cole Olsen, Chase Barrow, and Clayton Vandyke finished as the top three runners. Olsen's first place time of 25:31.06 earned him the Frontier Conference's Men's Cross Country Runner of the Year honor.
