Battlin' Bears Dim the Flames 95-46 in 2019 Hampton Inn Green & Gold Classic

BILLINGS, Mont., December 27, 2019 – Jumping to a 33-5 lead in the first period, No. 20 ranked Rocky Mountain College defeated NCCAA opponent Bethesda University of California 95-46 during the 2019 Hampton Inn Green & Gold Classic.

It was Rocky's game from tip to buzzer. The Battlin' Bears dominated the glass with a 59-31 edge in boards over the Flames while scoring 31 points off of 21 Bethesda turnovers. Much of the success on the night came from Rocky's bench who contributed a combined 47 points.

Four Battlin' Bears scored in the double-digits. The team was led by Shiloh McCormick who posted season-high 18 points with 13 rebounds. Mackenzie Dethman also recorded a double double with 13 points and 13 rebounds. Markaela Francis posted a team-high 20 points with seven rebounds while Grace Parker had 13 points and seven rebounds. Kloie Thatcher had nine assists.

Bethesda's Tanika Stephenson scored 14 points while Denshay Wallace had 12 points and a game-high 14 rebounds.

The Battlin' Bears finished the night shooting 43.6 percent from the field and landing 4-of-18 from behind the arc. A stiff Rocky defense limited Bethesda to just 25 percent from the floor.

The 2019 Hampton Inn Green & Gold Classic will continue tomorrow at First Interstate Arena at MetraPark. The action will begin with University of Providence's women's team facing off against Bethesda University at 1:30 p.m. Rocky women's team will face Mount Royal University at 5:30 p.m. while the Battlin' Bears men's team will play Portland Bible College at 7:30 p.m.
