SANTA BARBARA, Calif.– No. 8 ranked Rocky Mountain College was unable to find the back of the net in a 2-0 loss to Westmont College.
The game remained scoreless through the first half. It wasn't until the 55th minute that Westmont's (2-0, 0-0 GSAC) Tim Heiduck put a goal on the board off an assist from Sean Nakoaka.
With time dwindling in the 79th minute, Rocky's (0-2, 0-0 CCC)
Nolan Sherwood was unable to get a ball past Westmont's goalkeeper Lalo Delgado to even the score. Two minutes later, any chance of a comeback was put to rest when Christian Webb knocked in goal to put the Warriors up by two.
Rocky's
Kristofer Wennin pulled in five saves while allowing two goals. Delgado also pulled in five saves of his own in his shutout win for the Warriors.
Both
Marco Kummerle and Sherwood each accounted for two of Rocky's five shots on goal. As a team, the Warriors held a 10-8 shot advantage while Rocky held a 4-2 advantage in corner kicks.
Rocky will next play University of Jamestown in Jamestown, N.D., on Sept. 8.
