Battlin' Bears Fall 38-7 to Bulldogs on Homecoming Weekend

BILLINGS, Mont. – Playing through rain and hail on Homecoming Weekend, No. 24 ranked Rocky Mountain College was unable to top No. 20 ranked University of Montana Western in a 38-7 loss.

In the Battlin' Bears' first drive, Drew Korf connected with Lucas Overton four different times for 53 yards. Korf ended the 77-yard drive with a 5-yard rushing touchdown midway through the first quarter. It would be the only points the Battlin' Bears would score for the rest of the game.

Montana Western tied the game late in the first quarter with a four yard rushing touchdown from Kylar Prante. In the second quarter, Jon Jund found Nate Simkins in the endzone on a 16-yard touchdown pass to put Montana Western up by seven heading into the half.

The Bulldogs posted 24 unanswered points in the third quarter. Prante scored a 31-yard rushing touchdown and Mark Kharchenko knocked in a 47-yard field goal. Down 24-7, the Battlin' Bears' comeback aspirations were dealt a crushing blow when Joe Caciendo took two fumbles back for a pair of touchdowns within a minute of each other late in the third.

Prante finished with a career-high 187 yards and two touchdowns on 29 attempts. Jund threw for 160 yards, one touchdown, and three interceptions for the Bulldogs.
