KIRKLAND, Wash., September 27, 2019 – Northwest University took advantage of two early goals within the first four minutes to defeat the Battlin' Bears 2-1 Friday.
NU's Callie Wright found the back of the net in the second minute of play to put the Eagles on the board early. Teammate Rylee Rassier immediately followed with a goal of her own less than 30 seconds later to give the Eagles a 2-0 lead. It would be all the Eagles would need.
Rocky's
Tiara Duford scored in the 38th minute to draw Rocky within one point. Despite outshooting the Eagles 10-2 in the last 45 minutes, the Battlin' Bears were unable to find the back of the net during an uneventful second period.
NU's Kat Sanchez finished with six saves and one goal allowed. Rocky's
Maia Wetzel had two goals allowed and six saves.
Rocky finished the day with a 19-12 shot advantage. NU held a 7-2 advantage in corner kicks.
The Battlin' Bears will stay on the road to play The Evergreen State College on Sunday in Olympia, Washington.
