Francis Scores Career-High 33 Points in 71-68 Loss to Carroll College

HELENA, Mont. – No. 24 ranked Rocky Mountain College's Markaela Francis scored a career-high 33 points during a 71-68 overtime loss to the No. 17 ranked Carroll College Fighting Saints on Tuesday.

Francis was 1-of-2 on a pair of free throws with just 21 seconds left in the game to put the Battlin' Bears up at 59-57. Rocky looked poised to carry home the victory until Carroll's Kamden Hilborn drove to the basket for a game-tying layup with only 12 seconds left in the game.

In the decisive overtime period, the Saints outscored the Battlin' Bears 12-9 to claim their ninth conference win of the season.

Landing 12-21 from the field and 9-of-12 from the free-throw line, Francis' career-night accounted for nearly half of the Battlin' Bears' score. She had previously scored 27 points against University of Providence in December. Recording a team-high 13 boards, Francis also recorded her 11th double double of the season which counts as most in the Frontier Conference.

Grace Parker scored an additional 10 points with seven rebounds.

Four Saints scored in the double digits. Hilborn, Danielle Wagner, and Christine Denny each scored 15 points while Sienna Swannack had 10. Both Swannack and Emerald Toth had a team-high seven rebounds.

Neither team found much success from beyond the arc. The Battlin' Bears landed just 2-of-14 from deep while the Saints hit just 3-of-16. From the field, Rocky shot 43.6 percent to Carroll's 39.7 percent.

The Saints held a 35-32 advantage on the glass.

Rocky will return home to play No. 22 ranked Montana Western on Feb. 13.
