Rocky Football Defeats the Raiders with Team Effort

Rocky Mountain College football started the day strong with a safety on Southern Oregon's first possession. The Battlin' Bears got into a groove mid game and quarterback Nate Dick had touchdown connections to Carter Garsjo, Trae Henry, and Lucas Overton. Dawson Schick had the Battlin' Bears lone rushing touchdown of the day, Riley Garrett added a field goal, from 23 yards out, and Dylan Beridon had a fumble return as well.

Nate Dick had 190 yards passing, 65 yards rushing, 3 passing touchdowns, and 1 interception, in his first game back from injury. Dawson Schick led the Battlin' Bears in rushing with 82 yards, and eight Bears had at least one catch on the day. Zaire Wilcox had 113 kick return yards to add as well.

The defense added two turnovers that kept the momentum going for the Battlin' Bears. Ty Reynolds had an interception, and Dylan Beridon had a fumble recovery. The defense didn't only have two turnovers, they also held the Raiders to negative 49 yards rushing.

Penalties plagued both teams, the Raiders penalties cost them 156 yards, and the Battlin' Bears lost 89 yards to penalties. Rocky led the time of possession with 37 minutes and 22 seconds, and showed toughness in responding to adversity throughout the day, with overcoming those penalties and answering the Raiders scores.

"Very excited for our players, coaches, and fans," Coach Stutriem said. "I'm proud of the way our guys battled tonight in all three phases. We will learn from our mistakes, and get better. We will enjoy this for 24 hours!"

The Battlin' Bears travel to College of Idaho this coming Saturday.
