A Tale of Two Halves and a Half Yard
Zane Guse
Rocky Mountain College football started slow. The Battlin' Bears went down 0-10 after the first two scores of the ballgame went to Montana Tech. Rocky allowed the lead to grow to 7-31, but the Battlin' Bears fought back and with 4.8 seconds left in the game scored to make it 29-31. The Battlin' Bears went for two with a quarterback draw, and Nate Dick fell a half yard short.
Â
Nate Dick was a field general in the second half. He had a total of 350 yards passing and three touchdown passes, most coming during the second half serge to lead the Battlin' Bears back from down 7-31 to within two points.
Donavan Sellgren had two big catches totaling 95 yards, and Sellgren, Dwyer, and Killian had touchdowns.
Â
The Rocky defense was stout in the second half. Only allowing a score on a short field after an interception, that led to the 7-31 score. After that score the Battlin' Bears defense held the Orediggers to five punts and a turnover on downs. The defense was led by
Nolan McCafferty with 11 tackles,
Ty Reynolds with eight tackles, and
Alex Bush who laid a bone crushing hit on quarterback Jet Campbell for the lone sack of the day.

The Battlin' Bears travel to Havre, Montana to take on MSU-Northern this coming Saturday.
