Rocky Volleyball Hosts Carroll and No. 15 Montana Tech In Chase For the Frontier Conference Title

BILLINGS, Mont., Oct 27, 2022- Rocky Mountain College Volleyball (15-13, 5-1 conf.) hosts Carroll College and No. 15 Montana Tech for their final home games of the regular season.

Recap From Last Week: The Battlin' Bears continued came back from the Grand View Tournament motivated, defeating MSU Billings 3-1 last Tuesday, then defeating MSU Northern in three sets last Friday. Ayla Embry was named Erck Hotels/Frontier Conference Defender of the Week for the sixth time this season after averaging 6.57 digs per set in the wins over the Yellowjackets and Skylights.

Scouting the Fighting Saints: Carroll College (12-11, 4-3 conf.) comes into their matchup with Rocky off their biggest win of the season, defeating the previously undefeated in conference Montana Tech at home in five sets. Their performance was highlighted by 15 kills from sophomore middle hitter Elizabeth Heuiser, 48 assists from sophomore setter Hannah Schweikert, and 17 digs from junior libero Julia Carr. 

The Battlin' Bears defeated the Fighting Saints in Helena earlier this season in three sets behind 13 kills from Makenna Bushman, 36 assists from Blythe Sealey, and 24 digs from Ayla Embry. Carroll has won it's last two matches and will finish their regular season against Rocky, University of Providence, and MSU-Northern.

Scouting the Orediggers: No. 15 Montana Tech (21-7, 6-1 conf.) still holds on to a half game lead over Rocky in the Frontier Conference standings headed into their matchup Saturday night. If Rocky defeats Carroll Friday night, the Battlin' Bears and the Orediggers will be playing for outright first place in the Frontier Conference with one weekend left of play. Senior Olivia Muir was named Frontier Conference Attacker of the Week for the second time this season last week after posting 18 kills in a four set victory over University of Providence. Senior Maureen Jessop was the previous Attacker of the Week, an award she's won three times this season. 

Senior Night Recognition: The Battlin' Bears will recognize four seniors Saturday night on Senior Night. Ayla Embry, Lainne Wilkins, Kyra Oakland, and Taylor Wolf will all be recognized for their accomplishments on the court and in the classroom as Battlin' Bears student-athletes.
