BILLINGS, Mont. Oct 7, 2022- Rocky Mountain College Soccer teams travel to Caldwell, Idaho on Friday to take on College of Idaho and La Grande, Oregon to take on Eastern Oregon on Saturday.
Battlin' Bears Recap: Men's soccer (5-3-1, 3-2 conf.) and women's (2-5-3, 0-3-2 conf.) will look to bounce back after a long weekend in Oregon last weekend in which both teams lost their matches to Oregon Tech and Southern Oregon.
Scouting the Yotes: The women's teams will begin play at 4:00 P.M (MT). No. 22 ranked College of Idaho (8-1-1, 4-0-1 conf.) is coming off of a 2-1 win over Eastern Oregon in which forward Larissa Wegner scored her fourth goal of the season and freshman defender Gianna Yslavia scored her fifth goal of the season. Yslavia is the Yote's leading scorer, and is tied for the team lead in assists and shots on goal so far this season. Goalie Hannah McFadden has 28 saves on the season with a .893 save percentage, which is third highest in the conference The Yotes are coached by Brian Smith in his nineteenth season.
The men's teams will follow beginning at 6:30 P.M (MT). The College of Idaho (5-3-1, 3-2 conf.) men also won their game against Eastern Oregon last week, taking the game 4-0. Joao Bastos, a junior midfielder from Brazil who scored the Yote's final goal in that game, is currently tied for the lead on the team in goals with four on the season. He is accompanied by freshman midfielder Eric Hornung, who also has four goals on the season. The men's team is coached by Thom Baker in his ninth season.
Scouting the Mountaineers: The women's teams will begin play at 4:00 P.M. (PT). No. 24 ranked Eastern Oregon (6-2-2, 3-1-1 conf.) look to bounce back after a competitive loss against No. 22 College of Idaho last Saturday. The Mountaineers are led by senior midfielder/forward Erika Skindlov, who leads the team with four goals on the season. Eastern's defense is anchored by sophomore goalkeeper Madeline Barker, who has totaled 25 saves on the season with a .806 save percentage. The Mountaineers are coached by head coach Jacob Plocher in his sixth season.
The men will follow beginning at 6:30 P.M. (PT). The Eastern Oregon men (5-4-1, 2-3 conf.) are also looking to rebound after a 0-4 defeat against College of Idaho last Saturday. The Mountaineers offense is led by senior forward Max Rose, who leads the team with four goals on the season. Eastern's defense is anchored by graduate senior goalkeeper Dalton Mauzay, who has totaled 33 saves on a . 717 save percentage.
