Rocky Volleyball Takes Down Montana Western in Four Sets

BILLINGS, Mont., Oct 7, 2022- Rocky Volleyball continued their hot start to Frontier Conference play, defeating Montana Western in 3-1 Friday night. (25-22, 26-24, 17-25, 25-19)

The first two sets were back and forth throughout, with Rocky coming out on top in each of them. Western held a 24-22 lead in the second set, until the Battlin' Bears rattled off four straight points to take the set win 26-24. 

The Bulldogs grabbed momentum in the third set, holding a lead as large as nine points, eventually ending in a 17-25 third set victory. 

Rocky was unphased however, starting the fourth set on fire with an early 14-4 lead. The Bulldogs would find their footing, but Rocky held Western off and won a 25-19 fourth set to secure the match victory. 

Bella Bryan finished with 18 kills, topping her previous season best she set in Rocky's last match against Western. Ayla Embry finished with 32 digs, Blythe Sealey had 44 assists, and Rhiannon Nez finished with four blocks. 

Western was led by 16 kills from Kaylee Kopp, 46 assists from Kaylee Fritz, and 38 digs from Kelsey Goddard. 

The Battlin' Bears (10-11, 3-1 conf.) will host University of Providence Saturday night in the Fortin Education Center at 6:00pm.
