Rocky Men’s Basketball Heads to Dickinson For the Sam Milanovic Classic

DICKINSON, N.D. Nov. 23, 2022- Rocky Men's Basketball (4-1) will travel to Dickinson, North Dakota to take on Dakota State University and Dickinson State University this weekend in the Sam Milanovic Classic, hosted by Dickinson State University. The Battlin' Bears have not played a game of record in almost three weeks, with the only match in between being a home exhibition against MSUB.

Scouting the Trojans: Dakota State has begun their season 2-3, defeating Midland University and Mount Mary University, while falling to No. 24 ranked Briar Cliff University, Dordt University, and Hastings College.

The Trojans are led by senior guard Deshawn Kelly (12.8 ppg, 3.8 rpg, 1.4 spg), sophomore guard Sam Muller (8.6 ppg, 6.8 rpg, 1.0 spg), and sophomore forward Ethan Damerum (7.2 ppg, 6.6 rpg, 1.2 bpg). Dakota State's offense averages 70.6 points per game this season on 45.5 percent shooting from the field and 36.4 percent from three point range.

The Trojans are coached by Gary Garner in his 14th season at the helm.

Scouting the Blue Hawks: Dickinson State (1-7) will look to rattle off a couple of wins on their home court this weekend. The Blue Hawk's lone win this season was against Bacone College, as they have played a tough schedule leading up to conference play, including two games against No. 18 Montana Tech, one game against No. 16 Carroll College, and one game against No. 5 University of Jamestown.

The Blue Hawks are led by sophomore guard John Evans (9.9 ppg, 1.5 apg, 1.0 spg), sophomore guard Kose Egbule (8.3 ppg, 2.8 apg, 4.3 rpg), and sophomore forward Tyce Dahlberg (9.1 ppg, 5.1 rpg, 0.8 bpg). Dickinson State's offense averaged 71.5 points per game on 44.3 % shooting from the field and 35.2 % from three point range.

Dickinson State is coached by Derek Selvig in his third season.
