Rocky Women Host 2022 NAIA Women’s Basketball National Championship Opening Round Site

BILLINGS, Mont., March 10, 2022- Rocky Mountain College hosts a pod for the 2022 NAIA Women's Basketball National Championship Opening Round presented by Ballogy. Hope International University will face Dakota State University and the Battlin' Bears face Reinhardt University for the opening round games on Friday evening at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. respectively. The winners of the two games will face off in the Opening Round Championship on Saturday at 5 p.m. All games will be in the Fortin Education Center.
No. 2 Rocky finished the regular season with a share of the Frontier Conference Regular Season Championship, and won the Frontier Conference Women's Basketball Tournament Championship. Rocky enters the 2022 NAIA Women's Basketball National Championship Opening Round Frontier Conference Women's Basketball Tournament as the No. 2 seed in the Duer Quadrant. Rocky will face Reinhardt University at 7 p.m. on Friday, March 11.
Rocky Mountain College is currently 26-4, 12-3. The Battlin' Bears are averaging 68.1 points per game, 34.7 rebounds per game, and 8.9 steals per game. N' Dea Flye leads the Battlin' Bears with 20.9 points per game, 9.4 rebounds per game, and 3.4 steals per game.
Kloie Thatcher added 13.5 points per game, shot 38.8 percent from the arc, and 1.9 steals per game.
No. 7 Hope International University lost in the GSAC Semi-Final to be 26-5, 14-4. The Royals are averaging 72.8 points per game, 37.7 rebounds per game, and 13.8 steals per game. Ana Resendiz leads the Royals with 14 points per game and shooting 40 percent from the arc. Shiane Talley is adding 12.6 points per game and 7.2 rebounds per game.
Hope International University will play Dakota State University at 5 p.m. on Friday, March 11.
No. 10 Dakota State University enters the Opening Round after winning the NSAA Tournament Championship at 26-7, 13-1. The Trojans are averaging 84.1 points per game, 36.3 rebounds per game, and 15.2 steals per game. The Trojans are led by Jessi Giles, who averages 17.3 points per game and 2.2 steals per game. Savannah Walsdorf adds 13.7 points per game and 6.2 rebounds per game.
Dakota State University will play Hope International University at 5 p.m. on Friday, March 11.
No. 15 Reinhardt University from Georgia won the AAC tournament title at 20-13, 15-9. The Eagles are averaging 72.2 points per game, 38.5 rebounds per game, and are twenty-third in the NAIA in points scored with 2384. The Eagles are led by Abi Haynes, who is averaging 15.2 points per game, 5.4 rebounds per game, and is shooting 42.7 percent from the floor. Catherine Shope adds 12.8 points per game and is shooting 44 percent from the floor.
Reinhardt University will play Rocky Mountain College at 7 p.m. on Friday, March 11.
Tickets are available online. Students are ages 5-18. Tickets to the games will be $20 for adults and $15 for students on Friday; $15 for adults and $10 for Students on Saturday; and Passes for both days are available $30 for Adults and $20 for Students. Kids four years old and under will be free. Only NAIA Membership cards and a current Rocky Mountain College student ID will get free admission.
