BUTTE, Mont., Aug 19, 2022- Rocky Mountain College Volleyball kicked off the season today during the Big Sky Challenge hosted by Montana Tech. Rocky fell to No. 5 Midland University in the early afternoon 3-0. The Battlin' Bears rallied to defeat Dickinson State University 3-0 to cap their first day of competition.
The Battlin' Bears took on the No.5 ranked Midland University Warriors Friday afternoon. Rocky was unable to secure the first set in which they led most of the way, falling 24-26. The Warriors would go on to show that they are a top competitor in the NAIA, winning the next two sets 22-25 & 23-25, respectively. Ayla Embry led the way with 23 digs for the Battlin' Bears, while Makenna Bushman added 11 kills.
The Battlin' Bears took on Dickinson State University in the evening match, and was in control from the start. Rocky completed a 3-0 sweep of Dickinson State, 25-22, 25-21, and 25-12. Ayla Embry had 19 digs, while Makenna Bushman, Kyra Oakland, Taylor Wolf and Rhiannon Nez all contributed 9 kills in the winning effort.Â
The Battlin' Bears (1-1) return to the court Saturday morning to take on Cornerstone University at 9 am, and Northwest University at 5 pm.Â
