Preseason Expectations: The Battlin' Bears were selected to finish fifth out of fourteen teams in the Cascade Collegiate Conference in the 2022 season. Rocky men's soccer looks to build off of a 2021 season where they finished 6-5-2 in conference play. They return All-Conference Honorable Mentions

Finn Lane, who look to be major contributors to the 2022 team. The Battlin' Bears have competed in two scrimmages at home this season versus Northwest College and Casper College, as well as an exhibition versus MSU Billings. This matchup against Briar Cliff will be their first recorded game of the 2022 season.
Scouting the Chargers: Briar Cliff (1-1) hosts it's second home game of the 2022 season at Faber Field in Sioux City, winning their first against Waldorf 3-2 last Tuesday afternoon. The Chargers were ranked fourth in the GPAC preseason poll after holding a share of the regular season championship with Northwestern in 2021. Briar Cliff returns multiple veteran leaders, including Bernardo Torres, who was a first team all-GPAC selection in 2021. Briar Cliff is led by first-year head coach Teren Schuster, who previously served as an assistant coach with Cardinal Stritch University, his alma mater.
History: Rocky's only matchup against Briar Cliff (since 2006) came in 2018, a game in which the Battlin' Bears won on Herb-Klindt Field 2-1.
