Rocky Volleyball Falls in a Dramatic Five Set Match to Begin Play in the Frontier Conference Preseason Tournament

BILLINGS, Mont., Sept. 15, 2022- The intensity of conference opponents facing off was in full effect Thursday night as Carroll inches out a victory against Rocky 2-3 (25-11, 21-25, 22-25, 25-13, 15-17). 

The Battlin' Bears started out on fire, taking the first set 25-11, but Carroll quickly found some momentum of their own, taking the second and third sets 21-25 and 22-25. Rocky took control early in the fourth set and rode that momentum to a 25-13 victory to force a fifth set.  

The fifth set saw back and forth action in which no team found any sort of separation. Carroll was finally able to pull away in the end, taking the victory 15-17. Ayla Embry finished with 36 digs, Blythe Sealey totalled 47 assists, 22 digs and 3 kills, while Makenna Bushman and Rhiannon Nez each ended with 14 kills. 

Carroll College was led by Katherine McEuen's 32 digs, Hannah Schweickert's 42 assists, and 13 kills by Elizabeth Heuiser. 

Rocky (5-9) will take on University of Providence Friday night at 5:00pm in the Fortin Education Center. Tournament play will begin at 9:00am as #20 Montana Tech takes on MSU-Northern.
