Rocky Soccer Takes on a Pair of Oregon Conference Opponents

BILLINGS, Mont. Sept. 30, 2022- Rocky Mountain College Soccer teams travel to Oregon to take on Oregon Tech on Friday and Southern Oregon on Saturday. 

Battlin' Bears Recap: Men's soccer (5-1-1, 3-0 conf.) hits the road amidst a hot streak, winning their last four matches in a row and starting undefeated in conference play. Igor Soares continues to be an offensive force as he's tied for second in the Cascade Conference in goals with seven so far. Women's soccer (2-3-3, 0-1-2) head to Oregon seeking their first conference victory. The Battlin' Bears defense has only allowed one goal in their first three conference matches, but are looking for their first score in conference play.

Scouting the Owls: The women's teams will begin play at 12:00 P.M (PT). Oregon Tech (2-1-3, 1-0-2 conf.) began their conference play against common opponents Evergreen State College, who they defeated 3-2 behind two goals from senior midfielder Maddie Miller, along with Northwest University, who they drew 0-0 with. Miller is the team's leading shot maker, with three goals this season. The Owl's most recent match was a 0-0 draw to Southern Oregon. Junior goalkeeper Sydni Nakamura has three shutouts in her five matches played this season and has totalled 20 saves so far. The Owls are coached by Interim Head Coach Tom Eichelkraut, who is in his enth season with the women's soccer program. 

The men's teams will follow beginning at 2:30 P.M (PT). Oregon Tech (3-1-2, 2-1 conf.) also began their conference play against common opponents Evergreen State College, who they defeated 2-1, and Northwest University, who they defeated 2-0. Senior defender Brock Rideout scored a goal in each match. The Owl's most recent match was a 2-3 loss against Southern Oregon last Friday, a match in which senior midfielder Cade O'Neill scored two goals. Oregon Tech is coached by Sean McManamon in his first season.

Scouting the Raiders: The women's teams will begin play at 12:00 P.M. (PT). Southern Oregon (2-4-2, 1-1-1 conf.) looks to get back in the win column on Saturday. Their conference play began with common opponents Northwest University, whom they lost to 1-0, and Evergreen State College, who they defeated 2-1  by only allowing three shots on goals to the Geoducks. The Raiders are led by senior forward Sarah Mauk's team leading two goals on the season, along with senior goalkeeper Jessie Selby, who has two shutouts in her five matches played along with 26 saves on the season. Southern Oregon is coached by Jenni Rosenberg in her ninth season. 

The men will follow beginning at 2:30 P.M. (PT). The Southern Oregon men (4-4, 1-2 conf.) bounced back with a win against Oregon Tech last Friday 3-2, after dropping both matches to common opponents Northwest University (0-1) and Evergreen State College (1-2). The Raiders are led by junior forward Sam Walker, who leads the team with five goals on the season. Southern Oregon is coached by Davie Carmichael in his fourth season.
