Rocky Soccer Travels to the Dakotas for Weekend Matches

BILLINGS, Mont. Sept. 8, 2022- Rocky Mountain College Soccer teams travel to North and South Dakota over the weekend to take on Presentation College on Saturday in Aberdeen, South Dakota and University of Jamestown on Sunday in Jamestown, North Dakota.

Battlin' Bears Recap: Men's soccer (1-1) returns back home this week after a two game trip to Iowa to take on Briar Cliff University and McPherson College. The men would split the trip, losing to Briar Cliff 0-1 and defeating McPherson 7-1. The Battlin' Bear women (1-2) won their lone game last weekend 5-0 against Providence in Great Falls.

Scouting Presentation College: The women's teams will begin play at 12:00 P.M (MT) on Saturday. The Presentation College Saints are 3-0 to begin 2022, and have yet to give up a goal in their three matches played. The Saints are led by senior Georgia-May Murphy, who was named GPAC All-Conference Honorable Mention in the 2021 season. Freshman forward Jayda Hammer began the season off hot with a two goal game against McPherson College, then proceeded to follow it up with another goal in their next match against York College to lead the team in scoring this season. Presentation College is led by coach John McLean in his fourth season in Aberdeen. 

The men's teams will follow beginning at 2:00 P.M (MT). The Presentation College Saints men are 1-2 to begin the 2022 season, their one victory being a dominant 10-0 victory over Trinity Bible College. The Saints have been led by junior Norberto Montero, who has two multi-goal games in the Saints' first three games. Presentation College men are also coached by coach John McLean, his first season coaching the men. 

History: These will be the first matches for Rocky against Presentation College.

Scouting University of Jamestown: Sunday's matches will begin with the women's teams at 11:00 A.M (MT). University of Jamestown women have begun their 2022 season with a record of 1-3-1. Don't let the Jimmies' record fool you however, as the Jimmies have faced three top-10 ranked opponents, including their lone season win against No. 4 Oregon Tech (Note: Since their matchup, Oregon Tech has dropped out of the Top-25, but was ranked 4th at the time of their matchup). Jamestown is led by 2021 NAIA All-American Honorable Mention and GPAC Offensive Player of the Year in 2021 Kamryn Fiscus. The Jimmies also return GPAC First-Team All-Conference players Cassandra Diaz and Haley Dyer, as well as GPAC Second-Team All-Conference players Claire Struble and Eve Hoppe. Jamestown is led by 2021 GPAC Coach of the Year Nick Becker in his 11th season, who looks to lead a star-studded group to another GPAC regular-season conference title.

The men will follow beginning at 1:00 P.M. (MT). The University of Jamestown men have started their 2022 season with a record of 2-3. The Jimmies are led by MSU-B transfer Austin Shafer, who has accounted for five of the team's nine total goals this season. Jamestown men are led by Connor Campbell in his second season. 

History: Since 1999, Rocky women are 28-7 against Jamestown. Their most recent matchup was last season, in which Rocky was defeated 0-1. Since 2009, Rocky men are 14-5-1 against the Jimmies. The two programs met in the 2012 NAIA National Tournament, in which Jamestown was victorious 1-0. Their most recent matchup was last season, in which Rocky defeated the Jimmies 1-0.
