Rocky Volleyball Splits First Two Matches of Viterbo Tournament

LA CROSSE, Wis., Sept. 9, 2022- Rocky Mountain College Volleyball kicked off play in the Viterbo Tournament in Wisconsin on Friday with a 3-1 victory over Dakota State University and a 0-3 loss to Bethel University. 

The Battlin' Bears took the victory over the Dakota State Trojans Friday morning (21-25, 25-23, 25-18, 25-21). The first set was filled with back and forth action that saw the Trojans take the first set of the match. The Battlin' Bears would not allow Dakota State to take another set however, winning the next three to secure a victory. Ayla Embry led the way with 34 digs, Blythe Sealey had 37 assists, and Rhiannon Nez led with 11 kills. 

The Battlin' Bears spent all day in close sets, and their match against Bethel University was no different. Rocky fell 0-3, losing all three sets by two points (23-25, 23-25, 23-25). Blythe Sealey had 27 assists, Ayla Embry had 17 digs, and Bella Bryan had 14 kills to lead the Battlin' Bears. 

The Battlin' Bears (5-6) return to the court Saturday morning to take on two Top-25 ranked opponents, including No. 18 Taylor University at 10:00 A.M (MT) and No. 9 Viterbo University at 2:00 P.M. Follow @BattlinBears on Twitter for live updates as the matches go on.
