Rocky Volleyball Splits Matches in the First Day of the Viterbo Tournament

LA CROSSE, Wis.- Rocky Volleyball was on both sides of a three set sweep on Friday, defeating University of St. Francis (Ill.) and falling to #5 ranked Viterbo University. 

Rocky Volleyball made quick work of St. Francis in their first match of the day, taking a three set victory (25-21,25-20,25-20). The Battlin' Bears hit .238% as a team in the victory, led by 12 kills from Makenna Bushman, nine from Bella Bryan, and seven from Rhiannon Nez. Nez, Paige Sawyer, and Kaitlyn Wood all tallied three total blocks, while Blythe Sealey finished with 35 assists and nine digs in the victory. 

Rocky finished the day against one of the top teams in the country, host school and fifth ranked Viterbo University. The V-Hawks had the upper hand throughout the match, as they hit .242 as a team, finishing with 49 total kills and put down six service aces in the three set victory. The Battlin' Bears made a push in the third set, hitting .308 behind five kills from Bella Bryan and Rhiannon Nez in the set, but Viterbo finished with the final two points to secure the victory on their home court. 

Bella Bryan finished with 10 kills, Blythe Sealey tallied 23 assists and 13 digs, and Brooke Ark added 16 digs in the loss. 

The Battlin' Bears (15-9, 3-2 conf.) will take on Waldorf University Saturday morning to conclude their play in the Viterbo Tournament.
