Late Beacons Score Brings 1-1 Tie for Rocky Women’s Soccer

BILLINGS, Mont.- The Battlin' Bears led for much of the match, but an 86th minute goal from Bushnell's Sydney Peterson brought the final to a 1-1 draw on a cold day on Herb Klindt Field.

The Battlin' Bears took an early lead in Friday's matchup, as Halle Labert sent teammate Emma Lensing running free as Lensing capitalized on the one-on-one with the goalie to give Rocky a 1-0 lead just four minutes into the match.

Goalie Hannah Trumbull played her best match as a Battlin' Bear so far, despite the Beacons outshooting the Battlin' Bears 16-8 in the match, Trumbull kept Bushnell scoreless for much of the match, tallying a career high eight goal saves on Friday.

Bushnell finally broke the shutout in the 86th minute, as Sydney Petersen found an opening after a corner kick, bouncing her shot off the crossbar and into the net, bringing the match to a 1-1 tie.

The Battlin' Bears got one final chance in the 87th minute with a penalty kick, but the Rocky women were unable to capitalize as Bushnell goalkeeper Lexi Bates kept the draw intact for the Beacons.

Emma Lensing led the Battlin' Bears with three shots on the day.

The Rocky women (2-9-3, 1-7-3 conf.) will conclude their season at home against Corban University on Sunday as they celebrate Senior Day on Herb Klindt Field.
