Career High 25 Points From Iliana Moran Paces Rocky Women’s Basketball Past Corban 84-67

KIRKLAND, Wash.- The Battlin' Bears rode a 51 point first half on their way to another double digit victory for their fifth straight win to begin the season.

After combining for 13 points on 6-of-6 shooting in the first quarter Friday's win over Northwest, Dominique Stephens and Morgan Baird again got the Battlin' Bears off to a hot start offensively, as the duo scored 16 of Rocky's 20 first quarter points. Stephens was impactful on both ends of the court in the first 10 minutes of play, grabbing six rebounds and blocking two shots as Rocky held a 20-16 lead after the first quarter.

Morgan Baird, after attempting only one three pointer a season ago, has hit her first three attempts of the season, as she hit two threes in the second quarter. Iliana Moran got to the line four times and made all of her free throws, scoring 12 in the quarter as Rocky shot 11-of-18 in the second quarter to score 31 points without turning the ball over once, holding a 51-34 lead at halftime.

Ky Oliver (Buell) took her turn to pace the scoring in the third quarter, scoring nine in the quarter after going 4-of-5 from the free throw line and 2-of-3 from the field. While Corban outscored the Battlin' Bears in the fourth quarter, Rocky only turned the ball over once as they secured a 17 point win to finish the weekend.

Iliana Moran led the Battlin' Bears with a career high 25 points and five rebounds. Morgan Baird turned in 22 points on 10-of-12 shooting from the field, 2-of-2 from three point land, and pulled in six offensive rebounds (eight total) in the winning effort. Dominique Stephens added her third double double of the season, finishing with 15 points and 13 rebounds. Ky Oliver was the fourth Battlin' Bear in double figures, scoring 11 for her fourth game this season with 10 or more points.

The Rocky women shot 52.5% from the field (31-of-59), 30.8% from three (4-of-13), and 81.8% from the free throw line (18-of-22).

The Battlin' Bears (5-0) will return home to host MSU Billings at home on Wednesday, November 15th in the Fortin Education Center. Tip off will be at 5:30pm (MT), with the men's game following at 7:30pm (MT).
