Rocky Women’s Soccer Falls to Carroll College 3-1

BILLINGS, Mont.- Two second half goals from Carroll College proved to be the difference in a 3-1 loss for the Battlin' Bears Sunday. 

Carroll's Emily Funseth carried the Fighting Saints' offense, finishing the day with a hat trick. Her first goal came just twelve minutes into the match, as Zoe Koci led Funseth to the center of the field just outside the box as she fired a shot over Amber Wilkinson's head and into the goal. 

Halle Labert would respond with a deep goal of her own, as Sana Bath would set Labert up to take a dibble around her defender and go up for a deep shot attempt that would hit the bottom of the crossbar and drop into the goal, tying the match at one a piece. 

After both teams went into the halftime break knotted at 1-1, Funseth would break the tie after knocking in a rebounded save in the 61st minute. She would add onto the Carroll lead with a free kick that found the back of the net in the 87th minute. 

The Battlin' Bears were narrowly outshot in the defeat 14-15 (5-9 on goal). Labert led all Battlin' Bears with three shot attempts, getting two of them on goal. Amber Wilkinson tallied four saves in the loss. 

The Battlin' Bears (2-3, 1-1 conf.) will travel to (RV) Eastern Oregon and #17 College of Idaho next weekend.
