Battlin' Bear Recap

The Battlin' Bears look to bounce back after two close losses last week. With only four regular-season games remaining, the Rocky women will be searching to improve their seeding for the Frontier Conference Tournament beginning February 29th in Great Falls.

The Battlin' Bears remain the top three-point shooting team in the Frontier Conference, shooting 34.7% as a team this season. Rocky is 8-3 this season in games where they shoot above their season average from three.

Morgan Baird has picked up her scoring pace in her return, scoring in double figures in four straight games while shooting over 60% from the field in that span. She is one of four Battlin' Bears averaging more than 10 points per game this season.

The Battlin' Bears will look to jump MSU-Northern in the standings with two wins over the weekend and the chance to keep pace with Montana Western for the third seed in the Frontier Conference Tournament.

Preview

The Battlin' Bears won a lopsided matchup against Montana Tech in their last matchup, 77-37. Rocky has had success against the Orediggers dating back to the 2017-18 season, as the Battlin' Bears have won 19 of the last 21 matchups.

Since the last matchup against the Battlin' Bears, the Orediggers are 2-2, most recently defeating MSU-Northern 64-43 in Havre. Montana Tech has found success through offensive rebounding as of late, grabbing 10 or more in each of their last three games. After defeating the Battlin' Bears in the Frontier Conference opener, the Orediggers went on a slump, falling in seven consecutive games. Montana Tech has recently found momentum with two wins in their last three games as they look to finish the regular season strong.

After a game with the Orediggers on Thursday evening, Rocky will make a trip to Havre for another opportunity to win a season series. After the Skylights won the first matchup on a last-second basket by Ryley Kehr, the Battlin' Bears took a commanding 77-54 win in Havre on February 1st. That loss for the Skylight was the start of a four-game losing streak that they will hope to break on Thursday against Montana Western. MSU-Northern has been held to 45 points or less in their last two losses.

These will be the final two road games in the regular season for the Battlin' Bears before they return home next week for the final two games before the Frontier Conference Tournament.
