Battlin' Bear Recap

The Rocky women enter the final week of regular season action going 1-1 the prior weekend. The Battlin' Bears earned a victory over Montana Tech and fell against the Skylights in Havre.

In their win against Montana Tech this past Thursday, the Battlin' Bears held the Orediggers to just 38 total points, the third time this season the Rocky women have held their opponents to less than 40 points in a single game.

Freshman Angie Cavanaugh surpassed her career high in the fourth quarter alone in a loss to MSU-Northern on Saturday, scoring 10 points in the final ten minutes. She finished the game with 12 total points, tying for the team-high. Cavanaugh is the only qualified player in the Frontier Conference to shoot over 40% from three this season.

Morgan Baird was a force on the offensive glass over the weekend, averaging six offensive rebounds over the past two games. Baird finished with her first two double-doubles of her career and set a new career-high with 12 rebounds against MSU-Northern.

Preview

The Battlin' Bears look to avoid a season sweep against the No. 8 ranked Fighting Saints, falling by single digits in the first two matchups of the season. The Rocky women have had success at home against Carroll College in recent matchups, winning four of the past six matchups in the Fortin Education Center.

Carroll has won six straight games entering Thursday and are 13-1 since January 1st. The Fighting Saints secured the Frontier Conference regular season title with a win over Montana Tech this past Saturday. Jamie Pickens was named the Frontier Conference Player of the Week for the fifth time this season on Monday after tallying back-to-back double-doubles in a pair of wins for Carroll College over the weekend.

The Fighting Saints boast the 15th-best scoring defense in the NAIA this season, allowing just 56.3 points per game, as well as only 54.5 points per game in conference play. Rocky has surpassed this average in both games played against Carroll College this season in a pair of single-digit losses.
