Rocky Women’s Soccer Handed First Loss of the Season Against Georgia Gwinnett

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga.- The Battlin' Bears came out on the losing end of their first of three games in Georgia to (RV) Georgia Gwinnett 3-1. 

How it Happened
The Georgia Gwinnett Grizzlies play an aggressive style, and it was their advantage through the first 45 minutes as they outshot the Battlin' Bears 8-1 overall. Georgia Gwinnett's Natalie Maguire scored a pair of first-half goals to hand the Battlin' Bears a 2-0 deficit going into halftime. 

Rocky's offense found its rhythm in the second half. Mila Allison made a great pass from a free kick just outside the penalty box to find Georgia Dean, who got just enough on her shot to roll it past the goalie to cut Rocky's deficit to just one. Unfortunately, Georgia Gwinnett's Natalie Maguire would strike again just nine minutes later, giving the Grizzlies a lead they would hold onto for the remainder of the match. 

Rocky was efficient in its shot attempts, putting six of its eight shots on goal in the loss. Georgia Dean led Rocky with four shot attempts, three of which were on goal. Charlize Davis added three shots.
