PREVIEW: (RV) Rocky Women’s Basketball Hosts Two Home Games This Weekend

BILLINGS, Mont.- The Rocky women return home for a pair of home contests on Thursday and Saturday. The Battlin' Bears face eight more regular season contests, with four of those being at home in the Fortin Education Center.

Last Time Out

After falling at home to the University of Providence 79-71 on Thursday, the Battlin' Bears responded well with a bounce-back victory over (RV) Montana Tech, 62-53 in Butte. 

Saturday's win was a group effort for the Rocky women, as all five starters finished in double-figures to secure their second victory of the season over the Orediggers. Sydney Dethman led all scorers with 14 points, along with six rebounds.

The win puts the Battlin' Bears back into a tie for first place in the Frontier Conference standings with a 5-2 conference record after Carroll College fell to Providence on Saturday afternoon. 

Game Notes

Protect Home Court
The Rocky women return home for a pair of home contests on Thursday and Saturday. The Battlin' Bears face eight more regular season contests, with four of those being at home in the Fortin Education Center. 

Protect the Ball
Rocky has controlled possession throughout conference play, turning the ball over just 9.1 times per game, leading the Frontier Conference. This has helped the Battlin' Bears to a top offensive efficiency in the conference at 0.985. 

Win on Defense
The Battlin' Bears have held their opponents to under 70 points in each of their five conference victories this season. Overall, the Rocky women are 13-2 in games this season in which they hold their opponents under 70 points this season. 

Block Party
Freshman Isabelle Heggem leads the Frontier in blocks per game during conference play, tallying  1.3 blocks per game through seven games. She's recorded a block in each of the past five games, three of which were games in which she tallied two or more blocks. 

Scouting the Skylights
The Skylights snapped a five-game losing streak this past Saturday with a win over Montana Western in Dillon. Canzas HisBadHorse was red hot from the field, scoring 28 points on 11-of-15 shooting from the field, adding six rebounds and five assists. She is the leading scorer for MSU-Northern in conference play, scoring 14.3 points per game on 56.3% shooting from the field. 

Scouting the Fighting Saints
A cold second half offensively saw No.20-ranked Carroll College fall to No. 25-ranked Providence this past Saturday. The loss snapped a three-game winning streak, and the Fighting Saints won all three games by double-digits during this stretch. Four of Carroll's five starters average double-figures through conference play, led by 17.7 points per game by guard Kyndall Keller, who has made two or more three-pointers in each of her past five games.
