Rocky Men’s Soccer Defeated by Warner Pacific 2-0 in the CCC Semifinals

MEDFORD, Ore.- The third-seeded Battlin' Bears bowed out of the CCC Tournament late Monday evening following a 2-0 defeat to Warner Pacific.

A goal in the final seconds of the first half and early in the second half was too much for Rocky to overcome, as they were held scoreless for only the second time this season. Rocky's loss in the semifinals was the first defeat in nearly two months, dating back to the CCC Conference opener against Carroll College on September 19th.

How It Happened

Both teams were evenly matched in the first half until the final seconds, when, after a clock stoppage, Warner Pacific took possession and fired a pass into the box, where Damian Palominos headed it into the net with just three seconds on the clock to hand the Battlin' Bears a 1-0 deficit at the half.

The Knights added one more goal just three minutes into the second half, as Bodo Calderon threaded a pass through the Battlin' Bear defense for Abe Fuchs to tap into the net.

While the Battlin' Bears totaled seven shot attempts in the second half, they were never able to find the net, eventually falling in the CCC Semifinals.

Warner Pacific narrowly outshot the Battlin' Bears 13-12, with a five-to-four advantage on shots on goal. Rocky was held without a corner kick opportunity in the second half.

Scoring Summary

44' WPU - Damian Palominos (Ast. Chris Marcial-Cruz)
48' WPU - Abe Fuchs (Ast. Bodo Calderon)
