Giraud’s National Championship Highlights First Day of USCSA National Championship for Rocky Ski

MOUNT BACHELOR, Ore.- Freshman Eulalie Giraud tallied her first national championship finish to lead the Battlin' Bears on the first day of competition at Mount Bachelor Ski Resort. 

Women's Giant Slalom Results

Eulalie Giraud, a freshman from St Étienne, France, dominated the competition with a victory in the Giant Slalom, finishing with a total time of 2:04.51, over two seconds faster than the runner-up. Synne Kvinlog also tallied a First Team All-American honor with a fourth-place finish, totaling a time of 2:07.67. 

Three other Battlin' Bears earned Second Team All-American honors, as Elisabeth Grimkelsrud took seventh place with a time of 2:08.93, Klara Almqvist placed 13th overall with a time of 2:11.38, and Jenny Sjotun placed 15th with a total time of 2:12.20. 

The five finishers inside the top 15 helped the Battlin' Bears cruise to a team title in the Women's Giant Slalom with a team time of 6:21.11. 

Men's Skier Cross Results

Oliver Sapak led the Battlin' Bear men in the Skier Cross, as the freshman earned a First Team All-American honor with a fourth-place finish. Elio Turnes grabbed a Second Team All-American honor with a sixth-place finish. Samuel Rudy rounded out the Rocky competitors with a 36th-place finish. 

The Rocky men finished fourth overall in the Men's Skier Cross, totaling 46 place points. University of Wisconsin-Madison earned the team victory with 12 place points. 

 

The Battlin' Bears also competed in the Women's RailJam on Tuesday, but results have yet to be finalized.
