Rocky Women Earn Fourth Straight Skier Cross Title Behind Kvinlog’s Third Straight Victory; Clerice Leads Rocky Men to Giant Slalom Championship

MOUNT BACHELOR, Ore.- Synne Kvinlog defended her national title in the Skier Cross for the third straight season, while freshman Jules Clerice earned his first national championship to lead Rocky to a team championship in the Men's Giant Slalom. 

Women's Rail Jam Results (Tuesday)

Sara Akerstrom and Reese Harman earned Second Team All-American finishes in the Women's Rail Jam on Tuesday afternoon, leading Rocky to a second-place finish. Akerstrom placed sixth overall with a final score of 83, while Harman placed eighth overall with a final score of 80. Rounding out the Battlin' Bear finishers were Cora Moriarty in 14th place and Malia Grantor in 19th place. 

The Rocky women placed second overall with 28 points, while Liberty University earned the team title with 18 points. 

Men's Giant Slalom Results

Jules Clerice, a freshman from Lausanne, Switzerland, turned in the fastest run of the day on his first run (1:00.76) and held on in his second run to earn an individual national championship with a total time of 2:03.85. Fredrik Straume earned his second career First Team All-American finish after turning in the second-fastest run of the field on run two (1:02.47), placing third overall with a total time of 2:04.54. 

Aniol Torres earned a Second Team All-American honor, placing eighth overall with a total time of 2:06.78. Torres jumped 16 places after his second run, recording the third fastest time of the field on the second go-around (1:02.84). 

The Rocky men earned a team title in the Men's Giant Slalom with a total time of 6:15.17, just over two seconds ahead of runner-up Babson College. 

Women's Skier Cross Results

Synne Kvinlog defended her Skier Cross title for the third consecutive season, taking first overall. Eulalie Giraud finished runner-up in second place, and Sara Akerstrom took fifth place, both earning First Team All-American honors. 

Reese Harman took 15th place, and Malia Grantor placed 35th overall to round out the Rocky competitors.

The Battlin' Bears cruised to a team victory, totaling just eight place points, a sizeable gap ahead of second-place University of Connecticut, who tallied 41 place points. The win was their fourth consecutive title in the Skier Cross. 

 

The Battlin' Bear men also participated in the Rail Jam on Wednesday. The results will be finalized and released on Thursday.
