How it Happened

The Fighting Saints got a hot start, scoring the game's first eight points. The Battlin' Bears would battle back, scoring on four of their next five shots to even the contest at 10-10. Both teams would trade baskets throughout the first quarter, with both groups shooting four-of-nine from three-point range, but St. Francis had a five-point advantage after the first ten minutes of play.

St. Francis would extend a double-digit lead over the first six minutes of the second quarter, including a stretch of five consecutive made three-pointers. Rocky would weather the storm with an 8-1 run to cut their halftime deficit to seven.

After Iliana Moran opened the scoring in the third quarter with a three-pointer to cut the deficit to four, the Fighting Saints made a game-altering run, sinking another trio of three-pointers amid a 13-0 run that extended their largest lead of the contest at 17 points with 6:22 to go in the third quarter. The Battlin' Bears would slow the game down and force their way to the free-throw line, making seven-of-eight shots from the charity stripe in the final six minutes to reduce their deficit to 13 going into the fourth quarter.

While the Battlin' Bears were able to trim the deficit to single digits in the fourth quarter, they were unable to overcome a hot-shooting St. Francis squad, falling in the First Round of the NAIA National Championship Tournament.
