Rocky Women’s Golf Advances Past the Cut; Sit in 11th Overall Entering Round Three

ANN ARBOR, Mich.- The Battlin' Bears fired one of their better rounds of the season on Wednesday, shooting 17-over-par 305 to advance past the cuts and continue play in the NAIA National Championships on Thursday. 

The No. 26th-ranked Battlin' Bears shot the 6th-best second round of the field to jump three places in the standings to survive the cut and continue play at Eagle Crest Golf Club. 

Isabella Downing led the Rocky women on day two, shooting one-over-par 73 to bring her tournament total to nine-over-par 153 (80, 73), which ranks her 27th amongst the field. 

After a stellar day one in rainy conditions, Tyla Potgieter finished round two with a score of five-over-par 77 to bring her tournament total to eight-over-par 152 (75, 77). She ranks 22nd in the field individually. 

Grace Metcalf bounced back on day two after a slow start to round one, finishing Wednesday two-over-par 74. She totaled four birdies on the day to jump up the individual standings to 34th overall, scoring 10-over-par 154 (80, 74) total.  

Kirsten Smith subbed in for the Battlin' Bears on day two after serving as an alternate on day one, finishing Wednesday nine-over-par 81. She settled in to close out the round, shooting par on eight of her final nine holes. 

Kadence Fischer rounded out the Rocky competitors with a score of ten-over-par 82, totaling 24-over-par 168 (86, 82) through two rounds. 

The Battlin' Bears will continue play on Thursday in a condensed field following cuts, starting on hole 10 at 7:40 a.m. MT.
