Rocky Volleyball Falls in Both Matchups on Saturday to Conclude the Siouxland Tournament

SIOUX CITY, Iowa. - Rocky Volleyball dropped both matches in Sioux City on Saturday in straight sets. 

Rocky Mountain College: 0 - (RV) Dakota Wesleyan: 3

Momentum was hard to come by for the Battlin' Bears in their opening match, as (RV) Dakota Wesleyan hit an impressive .519 hitting percentage in the first set with no attack errors, ultimately totaling a team hitting percentage of .346 for the match, compared to Rocky's .123 overall, earning a three-set sweep. 

Ella Kincaid and Kaitlyn Wood totaled six kills apiece to lead the Battlin' Bears, Meredith Marsh tallied 15 assists, and Zoey Albert added 10 digs in the defeat. 

Dakota Wesleyan's Karly VanDerWerff totaled a game-high 12 kills and three blocks to lead the Tigers.

Another slow start to Rocky's afternoon matchup hindered them, as McPherson totaled a team hitting percentage of .600 to open the contest and cruise to a first-set victory. The Battlin' Bears played well in the second set, taking advantage of six hitting errors by the Bulldogs and totaling a hitting percentage of .270 as a team. While a four-point rally gave Rocky a 23-21 lead late in the second set, McPherson ultimately rallied to take the second set 25-23. 

The Bulldogs seized the momentum following their late run in the second set and didn't slow down in the third set, hitting at a .429 percentage clip to cruise to a three-set sweep over the Battlin' Bears. 

Kaitlyn Wood led the Battlin' Bearswith six kills in the second match of the day. Ella Kincaid totaled 10 digs, two service aces, and six assists overall. 

Enya Fierens totaled a game-high 13 kills for McPherson, while April Conilogue added four blocks.

The Battlin' Bears (0-4) will look ahead to their Frontier Conference opener on September 3rd in Helena against (RV) Carroll College.
