LAUREL, Mont.- Led by a pair of individual victories, Rocky Men's and Women's Golf teams turned in commanding wins at the Beartooth Invitational at Laurel Golf Club. 

Jared Smith earned a victory after a three-hole playoff on Tuesday, capping off his first tournament victory with the Battlin' Bears, while Grace Metcalf earned her second tournament win in as many outings to lead Rocky on the women's side.

Grace Metcalf earned her second consecutive tournament victory to open up her senior season, shooting the best round of the field on day two to finish five-over-par 149 (79, 70). Kadence Fischer followed in second place, finishing seven-over-par 151 (77, 74), while Tyla Potgieter finished third with a total score of 11-over-par 155 (75, 80). Kirsten Smith rounded out the Rocky scorers, finishing inside the top ten, tied for eighth overall with a score of 18-over-par 162 (78, 84). 

Rocky's women took the team title with a total score of 41-over-par 617 (309, 308), turning in a 28-stroke win over runner-up Montana Tech, who finished 69-over-par 645. 

Rocky's "B" team finished sixth place with a team score of 119-over-par 695 (344, 351), led by top individual performer Carlee Verdugo, who tied for eighth overall with a score of 18-over-par 162 (79, 83). 

Smith's First Tournament Win Leads Rocky to Victory

Jared Smith topped his tournament win off in style, winning a three-hole playoff to earn the victory. Smith tied with LC State's Andrea Artusini, shooting nine-under-par 207 (67, 78, 72), but was crowned tournament champion following the playoff victory. Aidan McDonagh followed in third place, shooting seven-under-par 209 (70, 68, 71), with Kristjan Burkelca placing fourth overall with a total score of six-under-par 210 (70, 69, 71). Sam Norman rounded out the Rocky scorers, tying for sixth overall with a score of one-over-par 217 (69, 71, 77). 

The Battlin' Bear men won the tournament by 15 strokes over No. 17-ranked Lewis-Clark State, finishing 23-under-par 841 (276, 276, 289). 

Rocky's "B" team finished fifth place overall, besting five different Frontier Conference opponents. Freshman Alexander Brester was the leading scorer, tying for 14th overall with a total score of seven-over-par 223 (75, 71, 77).
